Working Together in Great Lever at Slaterfield Community Centre, Carrington Drive
20th July 2012 @ 10:45 - 20th July 2012 @ 11:45

Torrential rain didn't stop some tough residents making it to the last one on June 22nd. It was also an opportunity to get to know the new inspector for South Bolton, Kevin Lister, who is trying to start 55 new Home Watch schemes in the area. If you are interested in in this contact your local police.
Some events were advertised, which will be on the events page...see the main page for details.
What came out was that if We are going to WORK TOGETHER for Great Lever, then the message needs to reach more residents, so that we can find out what skills and talents people have. How can we expect services to work well in Great Lever if we don't know what strengths we already have to offer?
If you plan on coming to the community party, you have to bring a friend so that more people can meet each other and discover what they have in common.
The next meeting is on July 27th and the theme is food! There will be Fresh Fruit and Vegetables to take away and the focus will be on how we can do more to make Great Lever a more sustainable and joined up community. Hope to see you there.
Another very positive meeting, that welcomed some new residents. The cafe style of the event seemed to go well with some people meeting for the first time. We spoke about how there have been plenty of events in the past where the community has come together and there continue to be good events coming up. (Which are posted on this n0ticeboard!)
Transport was mentioned as an issue for some residents, and also that the community needed to build more trust between people.
What can we focus around to bring us together?
A really positive first community networking meeting on the 27th April and great to seethe first influx of residents. Here is what people said about how they would like the meetings to be:
Keep it informal (No agenda)
Let the people in the room have a chance to share what they are doing, chat and find out what is happening.
Give local residents a platform to talk about what affects them.
That this has the potential to be a good initiative to share ideas and plan a way forward in the future.
There was encouragement to go to several local community events, all of which are now listed here on greatlever.n0tice.com
Please encourage others who are interested in working together in Great Lever to attend.
